DESCRIPTION:Spend a day exploring Georgetown County’s museums and historic sites to learn about the history\, stories\, and people that helped shape the American Revolution. Special programming and discounted admission will be offered at each of the following participating sites. All participating sites will be open from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. \nGullah Museum:  Stop by the Gullah Museum of Georgetown to learn about the rich history and culture of the Gullah Geechee people and how they shaped America from the Colonial period to today. The museum will offer free activities for children\, such as Gullah doll-making\, a scavenger hunt\, coloring sheets\, and games. Cost is $30.00. Participants will ride down Old Kings Highway (Francis Marion)\, visit Friendfield African American Village\, learning about rice growing in the very early years of our country\, and the role enslaved Africans played. Hobcaw will also be offering a 3-hour “Revolutionary” Explore Tour for $40.00 beginning at 1:30 pm-4:30 pm. The tour includes going out to the salt marsh at Oyster Landing\, discussing Native American presence on the property\, and looking across to North Island\, where Lafayette landed. DESCRIPTION:A fox hunt is coming to the city of Georgetown on Tuesday\, June 20\, on the lawn of the Kaminski House Museum as part of the Carolina Kids Day event. To commemorate the anniversary of the American Revolution\, the DAR\, Colonial Dames\, and Georgetown 250 organizations will unveil a permanent Foxes on Front Scavenger Hunt\, named after General Francis Marion\, who was known as the Swamp Fox. The Carolina Kids Day starts at 10:00 a.m. Activities for children of all ages will include the unveiling of Foxes on Front scavenger hunt\, historical tours\, learning to write with quill pens\, indigo blue painting\, detective games\, book signing\, and much more.
