Welcome to Georgetown, South Carolina, named the Best Coastal Small Town in America by USA Today readers in 2018!

That wasn’t news to us, of course, because we already believed we were a great place to live, work and play! But we were certainly happy to get the national recognition! As the third oldest city in South Carolina, our history is long and varied. For nearly 300 years, Georgetown has been a beacon to newcomers and visitors, all who enjoy the natural beauty found here – not to mention, our famous Southern hospitality.

Our unique coastal community has its roots in agriculture, shipping and manufacturing, but today one of our most important economic drivers is tourism – the reason you are probably on this website today.

Our city’s rich history draws visitors from around the world, and our region’s natural beauty beckons those seeking fun in the sun. Our shops and restaurants offer Lowcountry-inspired goods and foods. In short, we are a destination with myriad opportunities for relaxation and exploration.

Our harbor is host to pleasure boats, sport fishermen, and shrimpers. Our historic Front Street area is highlighted by the Harborwalk, which offers residents and visitors an easy stroll by the water’s edge.

Five museums can be found in our historic district, not to mention nearly 50 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Streets shadowed by Live Oaks will implore you to take a break from the daily grind and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in one of our many shops or eclectic eateries.

Georgetown is a place “where southern time meets maritime” to stroll live oak tunneled streets and take a break from the daily grind.  We all enjoy the hospitality of the city I’m proud to call home. Georgetown is a great place to do business, visit or live. So if you’re a resident take the time to appreciate all Georgetown has to offer!
