5PM COLONIAL COCKTAILS
RUMS OF THE ANCIENT MARINERS
Carin Bloom, Historian and Educational Interpreter
This program takes a brief look at the history of rum, what was popular in the colonial era in America, and the basics of rum production. We will sample historical recipes featuring two different rums, to understand ways in which the spirit was (and still is) consumed. Attendees will leave with a receipt-book of their own, to try the recipes at home. The evening will include 2 small sample pours of historical cocktails*, as well as light bites.
*Please note that the historical cocktails are all alcoholic, and no accommodations can be made for spirit-free mocktails.
Participants must be 21 years of age or older to attend.
