Winyah Indigo Society Hall

The Winyah Indigo Society Hall is an ideal historic event venue in the Georgetown historic district. The hall can accommodate up to 333 people and offers multiple rooms, acting as the perfect platform for all types of events and meetings.

The society itself was chartered by King George II in 1758 during the booming indigo trade that preceded the Revolutionary War. The historic hall, built in 1853 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has served a number of purposes over the years – as a school, meeting place, library and even a hospital for federal troops during the Civil War. Today, the hall is a popular place for special events, including weddings. In a place like the Winyah Indigo Society Hall, you can really step through time, as one couple recently did with a “Doctor Who”-themed wedding. Whatever your theme may be, the hall is a spectacular place for your special occasion.
