Join us on March 20, 2025, for the 12th annual Burning of the Socks, a quirky maritime tradition and fundraiser for the South Carolina Maritime Museum!
It all started with Captain Bob Turner, who spent his winters working on boats, collecting sawdust, paint, and grime on his socks. On the first day of spring, he tossed them in a fire, raised a beer, and celebrated the start of warmer days. Now, coastal communities across the country carry on the tradition—including right here in Georgetown!
With your ticket you should expect a bonfire for your old socks, live music, delicious food and drinks to keep the good times flowing. Plus, after three successful years, we’re continuing our new sock donation drive for Friendship Place.
Come ready to burn, sip, and celebrate!
